ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Air Traffic Control Association (ATCA) President and CEO Carey Fagan issued the following statement in support of the U.S. Senate confirmation of National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Chair Jennifer Homendy to serve a second, three-year term:

“On behalf of the ATCA membership, which works across a wide spectrum of the air traffic control, aviation industry, and global airspace communities, I am very excited to extend our warmest congratulations to Chair Homendy on earning a well-deserved second term. She has provided strong, bold, and steady leadership of the NTSB during an incredibly complex and critical time across all modes of transportation, particularly aviation.

“Chair Homendy is a tireless advocate for safety. We share her view that our aviation system is incredibly safe, but that we cannot rest on our laurels. There must be vigilance and a relentless focus on safety from all sectors of our aviation system.

“Additionally, as we just concluded our inaugural and highly successful Women in Aviation Leadership Conference last month, we are continually inspired and energized by Chair Homendy, who is the fourth woman to serve as chair since the NTSB was created in 1967. She is a tremendous example of what we view as effective leadership as we continue our work to break down barriers, create allyship, and provide mentoring insights for leadership growth.”
