ATCA Pledges Support and Expertise for Renewed U.S. Aviation Modernization Efforts

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The following statement is attributable to ATCA President and CEO Carey Fagan:

“ATCA is the voice of the air traffic management community and airspace industry, that wants to continue to play a key role in shaping aviation’s future by modernizing our aviation system. We represent the U.S. air traffic system industrial base which is ready to provide their expertise to make this transformation possible. Their expertise is in creating safe, robust, reliable, and modern technological advancements.

“We support President Trump’s call to make air traffic control modernization a priority. Our future-focused ATCA members are ready to work with the Administration and Congress to achieve success. This is the political will necessary to move modernization forward, and now is the time to capitalize on a pivotal moment in the 90-year history of air traffic control in the United States.

“While the National Transportation Safety Board works to investigate  the tragic accident on January 29th at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, we know our work must continue in earnest to develop a state-of-the-art air traffic control system; one that can both strengthen the layers of redundancy that are crucial to preventing future disasters and also increase efficiency to better accommodate increased traffic demands and new entrants. It is imperative that a modernized system be comprehensive and integrated to replace obsolete technology. ATCA’s members design and build proven technologies deployed globally.

“ATCA’s industry members are ready and willing to provide the critical knowledge and skills of experts who understand how our complex system works, guided by safety as our top priority. We are committed to working with all stakeholders who design, operate, and use the system to ensure it meets their needs.”
